SketchUp Roadmap
I started SketchUp Roadmap, an online course that takes you on a step by step workflow through SketchUp, SketchUp Layout, and VRay to help people like me. I’m Azmara Asefa, your instructor. After years of working in SketchUp for architectural design in small design firms, large architecture firms, working for myself, and at large brands, I had many aha moments, these things that I wish I knew when I started. It would have saved me a lot of time. I’m happy to share them with you during this course so you can where you need to go- faster.
I didn’t start here, but years of practice, some mistakes, and those subsequent learnings have helped me use SketchUp as an efficient tool to land amazing projects and dream jobs.
When I graduated with my BA of Architecture during the recession, I couldn’t find a job to save my life. I knew I needed a reset. So, I applied to Architecture Masters programs. I would leverage knowledge and a broader network to fulfil my dreams of working in architecture.
The plan worked, I went to the University of Cincinnati (ranked #2 at the time) and that reset allowed me to work abroad and see many sides of the industry. I also decided that I was going to choose what I wanted to do in architecture. I liked SketchUp, I liked interiors, and I liked smaller projects. Either through the law of attraction, or the content that supported this in my portfolio, my first IRL job aligned.
My path in architecture is not traditional. I’m not a rule breaker, I’m more of a new rule maker for myself. I got good at the things I liked and didn’t worry about the things I didn’t. There are moments on my journey that I reflect on and have to pinch myself. My passion and knowledge for SketchUp helped me get into big rooms, and explain my design ideas to some very powerful people. That’s the power of utilizing SketchUp for your needs.
Why am I sharing all of this?
I share it to say, wherever you are on your journey, whatever brought you here, I get it. I’ve tailored this course to get you in a better place not only in the SketchUp platform, but hopefully in your business or at work. Maybe you’re here for a reset. And, as a believer in the power of a reset, I’m here to help you on that journey.
Best,
Azmara
