How well do I need to know SketchUp to take the course?
SketchUp Roadmap designed for beginners and intermediate SketchUp users. If you haven't started or if you know SketchUp, but are looking to improve, this is a comprehensive course.
Who is this course for?
SketchUp Roadmap is for, but not limited to: interior designers, decorators, architects, visual merchandisers, and home DIYers. The course is a step by step workflow through modeling and rendering a house in SketchUp, Layout, and VRay.
What if I have questions about course content while I'm working through the course?
I send a weekly email with a form that you can send your questions through. Those questions will be answered on a weekly basis.
What can I expect?
I show you how to build the a home model from start to finish. You can follow along and model simultaneously, or watch the videos and create your model after each lesson.
Will I learn how to build construction documents?
No. I show how to build a basic model, but we do not discuss construction details (wall studs, window framing, etc).
You will learn how to build other details like cabinets. We create scaled plans and elevations in Layout.
With the workflow and techniques you learn, you will know how to create construction details if you choose. You will also have the foundational knowledge to create construction documents on your own if you choose.
Software Needs
What version of SketchUp should I use?
Use the latest version of SketchUp Pro. You will not be able to use LayOut or VRay with the free version of SketchUp.
Mac or PC:
I teach using a Mac, but you can still use a PC to take this course. I call out differences when they arise, but many of the functions are the same.
What kind of VRay should I use?
For the SketchUp Rendering Lesson, you will need to use VRay for SketchUp. I recommend adhering to the recommended schedule to take advantage of the 30-day free trial for new users.
